President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his government’s resolve to address the rising security threats and violent crimes plaguing Nigeria. Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the closing ceremony of the 2nd African Military Games, Tinubu commended the military for its successful hosting of the event in Abuja, held at the Moshood Agboola Stadium on Saturday night.

The president highlighted the significance of the military games, noting that it was more than just a sporting event. He described the competition as a powerful display of unity, where soldiers from across Africa came together to collaborate, share ideas, and work toward common goals. “The games we have witnessed are a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite, not just as soldiers, but as guardians of a shared destiny,” Tinubu said. He stressed that these games offered a platform to address the continent’s collective challenges through innovation and collaboration.

Tinubu, also the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), pledged his continued efforts to pursue stabilizing solutions for regional security. He emphasized the importance of stronger ties between nations and military personnel, believing that unity is key to overcoming security threats in the region.

Furthermore, Tinubu praised the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the President of the Organizing Committee of the African Military Games, Major General Abdullahi Maikano, for their commitment to ensuring the event’s success. “The spirit of collaboration exemplified by this edition of the African Military Games is significant,” he remarked, adding that the event served as a reminder of the importance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being in the military.

The President also extended his congratulations to all participating countries, commending their sportsmanship and dedication. “You have shown not only your military expertise but also your extraordinary abilities as sportsmen and women,” Tinubu concluded.
