Tinubu’s Aide Denies ‘CIA Asset’ Allegations

The Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has strongly dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is an asset of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This response comes after journalist David Hundeyin’s assertion that CIA filings in a legal case revealed Tinubu’s alleged connection to the agency.

Hundeyin’s claims stem from a filing made by the CIA, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), opposing a motion for disclosure of President Tinubu’s drug trafficking investigation records. The filing reportedly suggested that confirming the existence of records on Tinubu could compromise U.S. national security. The CIA indicated that such a disclosure could endanger its human intelligence sources, confirming or denying whether they had any links to the Nigerian president.

In response to these allegations, Olusegun took to social media, mocking the consistency of rumors surrounding President Tinubu. He likened the CIA asset claim to previous unfounded accusations, saying, “They told you he was a lady, you believed. They told you Yorubas don’t bear Tinubu, you believed. They told you he can’t be allowed into the US, you believed. They told you his name is not his name, you believed. Now they brought another one. Here you are as usual. Tragic.”
