Tragic Loss: Zazzau Emirate Prince Killed in Car Accident

Prince Umar Shehu Idris, a prominent figure in the Zazzau Emirate, tragically lost his life in a car accident on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway. The 41-year-old prince, who held the position of Assistant Secretary to the Zazzau Emirate Council, leaves behind two wives and two children.

Known as Dan Isan Zazzau, Prince Umar was involved in the fatal incident on the afternoon of October 8, 2024, as reported by Daily Trust. His untimely passing follows closely behind the death of his mother, who was the wife of the late Emir, Dr. Shehu Idris, and the mother-in-law of the current Emir, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

The Zazzau Emirate, also recognized as the Zaria Emirate, is a traditional state located in Zaria, Kaduna State, in Northwest Nigeria. Mallam Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, the Media and Publicity Officer of the emirate, confirmed the heartbreaking news and mentioned that details regarding the burial arrangements will be provided soon.
