US First Lady Jill Biden bid a heartfelt farewell to visiting First Ladies from around the world, including Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during a lunch hosted as part of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

During the event, Jill Biden expressed her deep appreciation for the lasting relationships she has built with her international counterparts. Reflecting on her time as First Lady, she noted that the bonds formed through their shared efforts to promote global peace and development will endure even after she leaves her official role in January 2025.

“This is the last luncheon I will host as the US First Lady, but I feel confident I will see many of you again in the next chapter of my life,” Biden shared, according to a statement from Remi Tinubu’s media aide, Busola Kukoyi. She added, “I wish you all safe travels back to your countries, as I know many of you have a long journey home.”

These luncheons, often held on the sidelines of UNGA, offer an opportunity for global leaders to engage in diplomatic discussions, build partnerships, and strengthen international ties.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, attended the event at Pier 57 as she concluded her participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
