During the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Bola Tinubu made a compelling appeal for debt forgiveness aimed at Nigeria and other developing countries. Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu highlighted the critical role that creditors and multilateral financial institutions play in this initiative.

Tinubu called for essential reforms in the international financial architecture, advocating for a transparent and inclusive trading system. He stressed the necessity of comprehensive debt relief and the repatriation of stolen assets back to their countries of origin.

Addressing pressing global challenges, Tinubu pointed out the urgency of tackling issues such as terrorism, poverty, climate change, and food insecurity.
