John Alfred Tinniswood, officially recognized as the world’s oldest man earlier this year, has passed away at the age of 112. The Guinness World Records confirmed his death on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Hollies Care Home in Southport, England, where he lived.

In a heartfelt statement, Guinness World Records shared, “We are saddened to learn that John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man, has died. His family revealed that his final day was filled with music and love.”

John’s family expressed their gratitude in a message, saying, “We are deeply saddened to inform you that John Alfred Tinniswood died peacefully at his care home on Monday. His last moments were surrounded by love and music. He was always thankful to those around him, and we extend our thanks to all who cared for him throughout his life, including the staff at the Hollies Care Home and NHS professionals.”

A Life of Legacy and Love
Born on August 26, 1912, to Ada and John Bernard Tinniswood, John witnessed over a century of history. A lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC, he married Blodwen Tinniswood, who passed away before him. Together, they had a daughter, Susan, who, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, survives him.

In April 2024, John gained international acclaim when Guinness World Records named him the world’s oldest man after the passing of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Pérez Mora.

His family fondly remembers him as a man surrounded by love and positivity, embodying kindness and gratitude throughout his long life.

John is survived by his daughter Susan, four grandchildren—Annouchka, Marisa, Toby, and Rupert—and three great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Callum, and Nieve.
