Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, has arrived at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja for the much-anticipated hearing of the N110 billion fraud case against him. The former governor was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in April 2024.

Bello made his first appearance at the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday, where he was questioned before being escorted to court on Wednesday morning. His arrival marks a significant step in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the alleged fraudulent activities involving him and others.

The EFCC had previously filed 19 charges against Bello, including accusations of money laundering, alongside his nephews Ali Bello, Dauda Suliman, and Abdulsalam Hudu. The charges involve over N80 billion in alleged illicit funds, leading to widespread scrutiny of his actions during his time as governor. Despite the initial charges being filed, the commission had been unable to bring Bello to court for an arraignment until now.
