The Yobe State government has completed the verification of 20,763 civil servants out of a total of 30,862 workers in the state. This major step was confirmed by Hamidu M. Alhaji, the State’s Head of Service, during an update on the ongoing data verification process in Damaturu.

Alhaji revealed that 10,099 workers’ data remain unverified, primarily due to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) failing to submit the necessary employee files. He emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining an accurate personnel database, highlighting the importance of eliminating ghost workers from the payroll.

While some MDAs have not complied with the submission requirements, Alhaji assured that the final results of the verification would guide the government’s next steps. In line with this, State Commissioner for Finance, Muhammad Abatcha Geidam, warned that salaries for any unverified civil servants would be withheld until the necessary documentation is provided.
