Anambra State Government to Roll Out New Minimum Wage in October

The Anambra State Government is set to implement a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 starting in October. This announcement was made by Governor Chukwuma Soludo during a meeting with school principals and head teachers at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center in Awka on Thursday.

In addition to the wage increase, Governor Soludo shared that free education will soon extend to senior secondary school students in all public schools throughout the state, effective next week. Despite facing financial challenges, he reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to fulfilling its commitments to the people.

Earlier, Soludo had initiated a free education program for primary and junior secondary school students. With this new development, the initiative now benefits students across public primary, junior, and senior secondary schools, ensuring a comprehensive educational support system for all levels of education in Anambra.
