Comrade Osita Obi Declares Soludo’s Victory Certain in Anambra Election

Comrade Osita Obi, Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, has predicted an easy victory for Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, insisting that no serious opposition stands a chance against him.
In an interview assessing the political climate ahead of Saturday’s polls, Obi said it would be pointless for other candidates to keep pouring money into campaigns when the outcome, in his view, is already decided. He urged them to redirect their resources toward the Anambra Security Trust Fund, which he believes would have a more meaningful impact on the state.
Praising Soludo’s leadership, Obi highlighted the governor’s efforts in restoring order to Awka, improving revenue collection, and removing touts from major revenue points. “Honestly, there is nothing that will work against him. He has done marvelously well, fantastically well. Awka now has the resemblance of a state capital,” Obi remarked.
He explained that before Soludo’s tenure, a significant portion of Anambra’s internally generated revenue was lost to illegal collections and private pockets. “This is the first time in Anambra State that touts have not collected revenue. Previously, 70 percent of the money went to the private sector. But when this man came, he said no — you must pay government directly. That is what is obtainable today,” Obi stated.
While acknowledging that no leader is perfect, Obi rated Soludo’s performance at 70 percent, describing him as a governor who has delivered results despite minor mistakes. “The governor is human. He may make one mistake or the other, but I rate him 70 per cent. When you do good, I praise you; when you do wrong, I criticise you — constructively,” he said.
Interestingly, Obi revealed that one of his own properties was demolished to make way for the new Governor’s Lodge, yet he continues to support Soludo for the greater good of Anambra State. “If there is any person in Anambra State today that will go after Soludo, it is me. My building was demolished to build the Governor’s Lodge. But we are talking about the greater good of our state. Honestly, Soludo has performed,” he added.
Reiterating his stance, Obi urged other governorship hopefuls to stop wasting funds on a “hopeless race” and instead invest in community development and security initiatives that would benefit the people of Anambra.
