Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced the approval of free bus services through the Edo City Transport Service. The new initiative, which covers the Benin metropolis and extends to all three Senatorial Districts of the state, aims to ease transportation challenges for citizens.

According to a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the free bus service will serve both intra- and intercity routes, connecting areas within Benin City and other key locations in the state. This initiative is part of the Okpebholo administration’s broader effort to improve the quality of life for the people of Edo, making travel more accessible and affordable.

The service will be available across various regions, including Edo Central, with towns such as Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Irrua, and Uromi, as well as the northern areas, including Agbede, Auchi, Okpella, and Fugar. The Governor’s office emphasized that this move would significantly reduce the financial burden on residents who previously faced high transportation costs.

Governor Okpebholo’s administration continues to focus on projects aimed at improving the daily lives of the people, with free public transport being a key component of his plan to enhance public welfare across Edo State.
