Pep Guardiola remains hopeful that Manchester City can still accomplish great things this season, despite enduring a troubling five-match losing streak. With their next challenge set for Tuesday against Dutch side Feyenoord in the Champions League, Guardiola expressed confidence that City would turn things around.

“I have the feeling that this season we will do very good things,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference on Monday. “I don’t give up, and I have the feeling we will be there.” His words come after City’s disappointing run, which has seen them fall eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool. However, Guardiola emphasized his focus on the immediate future rather than dwelling on the setbacks.

While City has struggled in the league and Champions League, sitting in 10th place, Guardiola believes that staying true to his methods is key. “I want the players in certain departments to be more focused. What do we have to do? And step by step, we will come back,” he said, remaining determined that the team’s fortunes would improve. Guardiola, who has guided City to four Premier League titles and a Champions League victory in 2023, is not planning any drastic changes. Instead, he urges his squad to concentrate on the next match and give their best effort to get back to winning ways.

A major factor in City’s struggles has been injuries, particularly to key players like Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian playmaker, who has battled a lengthy injury layoff since mid-September, admitted his frustration at being unable to contribute fully. “I can help the team, but you can only do so much from the sidelines,” De Bruyne shared. “It’s frustrating because I know if I was feeling good, I could help the team, but I wasn’t able to do that.”

Despite the challenges, De Bruyne remained optimistic about City’s recovery. “It’s been a bit chaotic… but we are determined to get back to winning as soon as possible,” he added.
