Hezbollah Engages Israeli Troops as Lebanon Faces Heavy Strikes

Hezbollah fighters are now locked in fierce confrontations with Israeli forces along Lebanon’s southern border. The Israeli military confirmed Saturday that its troops struck militants from the Hezbollah movement near a mosque, deepening the violent cross-border exchanges that have escalated into a full-scale conflict.
The situation intensified when Israel launched extensive airstrikes on Hezbollah positions throughout Lebanon, transforming the nearly year-long skirmishes into an all-out war. Ground troops have also conducted raids near the border, escalating tensions between the two sides.

In a separate development, the first Israeli airstrike in northern Lebanon’s Tripoli region targeted the Beddawi refugee camp. The attack killed a Hamas commander, Saeed Attallah Ali, along with his wife and two daughters. The Palestinian militant group condemned the strike, attributing it to the “Zionist bombardment.” These attacks come shortly after Iran launched its second-ever missile strike on Israel, while Hezbollah and its allies, including those from Yemen, continue to intensify their rocket fire.
In the midst of this chaos, residents like Ibrahim Nazzal, displaced by the violence, expressed their longing for peace: “We want the war to stop so we can go back to our land. All our homes are gone.” With hundreds of thousands displaced, the toll on civilians is mounting.
As the conflict escalates, Israeli military forces report over 250 Hezbollah fighters have been killed along the border this week. Israeli airstrikes also targeted a Hezbollah command center located in a mosque in the town of Bint Jbeil, continuing the intense military offensive. The violence, which has claimed more than 1,100 lives since late September, shows no signs of abating.
