Kaduna State is set to take a major step toward digital transformation with the launch of a new initiative aimed at training 5,000 women in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Governor Uba Sani, represented by Mrs. Patience Fakai, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, introduced the “Arewa Ladies4Tech” program during a stakeholders’ event in Kaduna on Thursday. This initiative, a collaboration with leading tech companies like Data Science Nigeria and Google.org, seeks to empower women across all 23 local government areas in the state.

The program is already seeing positive outcomes, with many trained participants securing both local and international remote job opportunities. Additionally, the initiative includes the AI4All project, which offers accessible artificial intelligence lessons in the Hausa language, and the AgricTech Hackathon, a partnership with Greysoft Technologies to create technology-driven solutions for the agriculture sector. This comprehensive approach aims to equip women with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
