Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has committed to supporting the rehabilitation and education of recently released minors detained amid the #EndBadGovernance protests. During a Tuesday night address, Yusuf emphasized his dedication to ensuring the minors receive the care and educational opportunities needed to reintegrate into society.

The governor, who was initially unaware of the minors’ arrest, expressed his concern upon discovering their arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja. To address the situation, Yusuf quickly directed Kano State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to intervene. Additionally, he made a visit to the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, where a team of medical professionals is assessing the physical and mental well-being of the 76 minors.

Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for facilitating the minors’ release, describing the gesture as a “compassionate response to a difficult situation.” He also extended appreciation to all involved in ensuring the safe return of the children, particularly commending the parents for their patience and resilience throughout the ordeal.

“We recognize the strength and dignity of the parents,” Yusuf stated, acknowledging their fervent prayers and maturity. Governor Yusuf underscored the importance of education in his rehabilitation efforts, ensuring that the minors will be re-enrolled in local schools to continue their studies. “Education is essential for their future and for the development of our state,” he emphasized, reiterating that the government will take all necessary steps to reintegrate the children back into society.

He also reassured the public of his commitment to giving these young individuals a second chance. “These children will not be defined by this incident,” Yusuf remarked. “We will help them rebuild their lives through education and opportunities that foster personal growth.”
