Justice Obiora Egwuatu presided over the case and ruled on Tuesday to strike out the charges after the Attorney General of the Federation, represented by Director of Public Prosecution Mohammed Abubakar, filed a motion to discontinue the case. This action was made under section 174 of the 1999 Constitution, allowing the Attorney General to take over the proceedings from the Inspector General of Police. Following the court’s approval, the Attorney General requested to discontinue the trial for all 119 accused individuals involved in the protests, marking a pivotal moment in this ongoing situation.
