The Kwara State Government has reversed its previous ban on certain commercial vehicles from using the Ahmadu Bello Way, a major route leading to the Government House. On Wednesday, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, confirmed that shuttle buses, taxis, and ride-hailing vehicles are now permitted to operate on the route, which is home to key government offices, including the Government House and other security installations.

The update was provided through a statement from Olododo, shared by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Olajide Abolarin, who stressed that the move aims to ensure smoother transportation for the public. “This clarification is necessary for public awareness,” the statement noted.

Despite the relaxation of the restrictions for some vehicles, Olododo reaffirmed that tricycles, motorcycles, and heavy-duty trucks would still be prohibited from accessing the route, citing security concerns and the importance of maintaining public order.

The decision comes after last week’s enforcement of a ban on various commercial vehicles, including tricycles (Keke Napep), commercial motorcycles (Okada), and trucks. Violators of the initial ban were warned that fines of up to N50,000 could be imposed.
