The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly attempting to steal an electronic road sign in Oshodi. The arrest took place in the early hours of Wednesday around 2:00 a.m. when the suspect was caught in the act of removing one of the road signs located on the Five Star Bridge.

The road signs, crucial for guiding drivers to slow down, have recently been targeted by vandals. Just a week before the arrest, thieves had stolen the battery from one of the signs on the inward Apapa side of the bridge. The Rapid Response Squad (RRS), which made the arrest, shared details of the incident on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle @rrsLagos767.

The arrest comes as part of increased efforts by the RRS to combat crimes like traffic robberies and the destruction of public infrastructure. The suspect was found with battery cables and pliers, tools commonly used in such crimes.

RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, had previously deployed patrol teams to the Oshodi area to address these issues and protect critical infrastructure.
