recent interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore made a bold statement about the future of the Igbo people in Nigeria. Sowore, leader of the African Action Congress (AAC), claimed that there is a secret government agenda warning against giving political opportunities to Igbos. According to him, for Igbos to truly thrive, Nigeria must break up.

Sowore emphasized that the current political and social structures in Nigeria are not conducive to the growth and prosperity of the Igbo people. He suggested that a major shift in the country’s governance or even a breakup might be the only path for the Igbo community to succeed in the long term.

He added, “Nigeria has an Igbo problem. There is a secret memo in the government to be careful of Igbos. The memo is against giving the Igbos political positions and opportunities.”
