Rochas Okorocha, the former Governor of Imo State, is alive and well, contrary to a recent viral rumour claiming he passed away in a London hospital. Ebere Nzeworji, an aide to Okorocha, dismissed the fake news, reassuring the public that the former senator representing Imo West is in good health.

Nzeworji, in a statement released Thursday morning in Abuja, explained that a misleading message about Okorocha’s death began circulating on social media on the evening of Wednesday, November 6. He clarified that Okorocha was actually at his Unity House office in Garki, Abuja, around the same time the false reports spread. The aide also pointed out that Okorocha had just returned from Owerri, Imo State.

The former governor had recently attended the funeral of the late elder statesman Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on November 1 and hosted Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, at his residence in Owerri.

“Senator Okorocha is a patriotic Nigerian, and it is puzzling to see such malicious rumours spread about him,” Nzeworji stated. He also called on Nigerians and the international community to disregard the false claims and to trust that Okorocha is in excellent health, continuing to focus on his work and relationships across the country and the globe.
