The Oyo State government has assured residents that no houses in densely populated areas will be demolished during the development of the Ibadan Circular Road.

Addressing public concerns, the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, clarified that the state had already acquired 150 meters on both sides of the road in 2006 and an additional 350 meters in 2018, all under previous administrations. He emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde’s government has not acquired any additional land.

Akin-Funmilayo made these remarks during a press briefing following days of protests by residents along the Circular Road corridor. He reassured the public that the current administration is only working within the boundaries previously established by past governments.

Additionally, he stated that although the government is clearing the first 150 meters on both sides of the road, densely populated areas and economically valuable structures would be spared from demolition, and officials have been instructed to halt any further markings beyond that point.
