The Anambra State Police Command has promised to track down those responsible for the recent murders of four vigilante operatives in the state. The attack, which also left two others seriously injured, has sparked outrage and concern across the region.

In a statement released on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, shared the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, to swiftly apprehend the assailants behind the brutal killings. The victims were attacked by armed assailants driving unregistered Lexus 330 and Honda FJ Cruiser SUVs at Ekeagu Abatete, resulting in the death of three vigilantes and the injury of an innocent bystander.

The attackers attempted to flee the scene, but they were pursued by a Police Response Team. At Ukpo Junction in Dunukofia Local Government Area, another vigilante was killed, another person was injured, and two vehicles were set ablaze.

The bodies of the victims have been recovered, and the injured are currently receiving medical care. The police have expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and the local community. They have vowed to use every resource available to bring those responsible to justice, assuring the public that updates on the investigation will be provided in due course.
