Jannik Sinner powered through to the China Open final after defeating China’s Bu Yunchaokete 6-3 in the first set of their Beijing semifinal clash. The Italian tennis star now prepares to face Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who earlier triumphed over Daniil Medvedev in the other semifinal, securing his spot for the title match.
Sinner, ranked No. 7, earned his semifinal berth after a commanding win against Czech player Jiri Lehecka, ranked No. 37. His Chinese opponent, Bu Yunchaokete, ranked No. 96, had previously pulled off an upset, beating Russia’s Andrey Rublev, the No. 4 seed, in a thrilling 7-5, 6-4 victory at the Diamond Court.

In the opening set, both players traded games until it was tied at 3-3. However, Sinner showed resilience, taking advantage of key moments to edge past Bu, closing out the set 6-3. Despite Bu’s strong defense and multiple close points, Sinner kept his composure, breaking through in the sixth game after a tight fifth, where he overcame several break points. Bu fought hard, but Sinner’s consistency and power were too much for him to handle.
In the other semifinal, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-3, marking his fourth consecutive victory over the Russian. This win sends Alcaraz into his first final since the Olympic Games, setting up an exciting showdown against Sinner.
Meanwhile, in the doubles event, Italians Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori advanced to the final, marking their fifth appearance this season. They will compete against the duo of Finnish Harri Heliovaara and British Henry Patten after a semifinal victory over Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Croatian Nikola Mektic.
Tennis fans eagerly await the final, which promises to deliver an electrifying match between Sinner and Alcaraz, as both players vie for the coveted China Open title.
