Taraba Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, officially swore in Josiah Kente as the Special Adviser on Political Matters on Thursday, along with 16 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries. The event took place in the Executive Chamber of Government House in Jalingo.

During his address, Kefas highlighted the critical role of integrity, professionalism, and dedication in public service. He urged the newly appointed officials to prioritize the needs of the state and contribute positively to its development.

Kefas reminded them that their actions and decisions would significantly impact the lives of the people in Taraba and reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing the state.

“You are the key drivers of our governance. The people of Taraba will feel the effects of your leadership through the decisions you make daily and how you conduct your responsibilities,” he stated.

“As you embark on your new roles, remember that our administration focuses on key priorities such as good governance, effective service delivery, teamwork, and professionalism. You must exemplify these values in your conduct,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed officials, Kente expressed his gratitude to the governor for the opportunity and pledged their dedication to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to them. The former Speaker of the Taraba House of Assembly committed to serving with integrity and aligning their work with the governor’s vision of inclusive governance.

“Your Excellency, I appreciate this chance to contribute to the development of our political landscape. I recognize the significance of this office and pledge to serve with integrity, transparency, and diligence,” Kente remarked.

“Political leadership is not merely about power; it is about serving the people, listening to their concerns, and working diligently to fulfill their aspirations.”

Kente also emphasized their collective responsibility to enhance the democratic institutions that underpin the growth of Taraba. He expressed confidence that through collaboration, they could navigate the complexities of the political environment and foster meaningful change.
