Reflecting on the terrifying event, Jakes acknowledged that what happened could have been far worse, sharing his gratitude for both God’s protection and the prayers of his congregation and global supporters.

In his first public address since the emergency, Jakes revealed that during the service, he faced a health scare that could have ended tragically. “It didn’t have to end this good,” he stated in a video message posted on X.com. Though he admitted he wasn’t afraid to die, Jakes emphasized how close he came to a potentially fatal outcome, particularly avoiding a stroke, which could have been life-threatening.

“I’m so grateful. I’m grateful to you all,” Jakes said, addressing his supporters. “All the people who prayed, who texted, who had prayer vigils, all the people who were concerned and sent love. Thank you.” He further acknowledged that while he does not fear death, his thoughts were with his family, his church, and those who rely on his ministry.

The health scare, which unfolded during his Sunday sermon, saw Jakes lose his ability to speak mid-prayer, causing alarm within the congregation. Medical professionals quickly responded, and emergency intercessory prayers were held as Jakes received assistance.

Thanking God for intervening, Jakes shared, “I give thanks unto the Lord that I did not have a stroke; however, the event could’ve been fatal if it weren’t for God’s intervention.” He also reflected on his responsibility to continue his mission while taking time for rest and recovery. “Rest is not a weakness—it is a divine gift,” he said, highlighting the importance of self-care and divine strength.

Jakes wrapped up his message by expressing heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from family, church members, and friends worldwide. He also praised the swift and expert care provided by local medical professionals. “I’m forever humbled by your outpouring of love and support,” he wrote.
