Auto criminals, who have long exploited the struggle for Biafra and the names of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have taken their reign of terror to a new level. Recently, these criminals have expanded their operations, causing untold havoc in towns and villages across Imo, Anambra, and Ebonyi states.

Imagine the once peaceful community of Arodinzugo, now in despair as criminals brazenly target its local institutions. These criminals invaded Agbobu Maternity Hospital and the nearby primary school, stripping them of all doors, roofing zinc, iron beds, and even electrical wiring. The shocking audacity of these acts has left the community reeling, as vital facilities are reduced to ruins.

For some time now, these gangs have struggled to find new victims for their kidnapping operations, with dwindling opportunities for ransom demands. With no cars left to steal, their tactics have evolved into invading people’s homes, breaking in, and looting properties. From palaces to personal residences, no building is safe from their destructive spree. In one such incident, the palace of a local king was brutally vandalized, with doors and windows ripped away in broad daylight.

What is most disheartening is the forced displacement of residents. Homeowners are being ordered to evacuate, leaving behind their properties to be pillaged. This new wave of crime has predominantly been traced back to criminals originating from Ebonyi state, spreading fear and chaos in Imo and the southern parts of Anambra state.

The misuse of the Biafra struggle and the names of its prominent leaders for such heinous acts has sparked outrage among the communities and genuine proponents of the movement. These criminals are not freedom fighters but opportunists exploiting a noble cause for personal gain, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
