With the defeat, Beşiktaş has now gone four consecutive matches without a win, raising concerns about their form and the future of coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Black-and-Whites had a promising start to the season, showing strong potential through the first nine weeks. However, everything changed after their October 28 defeat to Galatasaray in the derby. Since that match, Beşiktaş has struggled, earning just two points from a possible 12 in their next four matches. Conceding 9 goals while only scoring 4, the team’s defense has been a major issue, with the most glaring weaknesses exposed by fast players and set-piece situations.

Van Bronckhorst, the Dutch coach under scrutiny, faces growing criticism for his tactical choices. His decision to repeatedly rely on Cher Ndour in midfield instead of giving more minutes to Salih Uçan, who has only played 16 minutes this season, has drawn attention. Additionally, the team’s inability to defend set pieces has cost them dearly, with 9 out of 14 goals conceded coming from dead-ball situations. In the recent Göztepe match, two goals came from corner kicks after Beşiktaş had initially taken a 2-0 lead.

Another point of contention is Van Bronckhorst’s limited use of substitutions. In key matches, such as the Galatasaray loss and the 0-0 draw with Başakşehir, he has made few changes, which has led some to question the depth of the squad and the coach’s strategies.

If Beşiktaş’s poor form continues, both in the domestic league and in European competitions, it seems increasingly likely that Van Bronckhorst’s position will come under serious review. With their championship dreams all but dashed, the team will need to regroup quickly to salvage their season.
