The Dangote Group has unveiled an ambitious plan to transport refined petroleum products via sea, significantly reducing road traffic and enhancing exports to African nations. Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, Senior Adviser to the Group President on Special Projects and Strategic Relations, shared that a new jetty has been constructed in the Lekki Free Zone to support this initiative and facilitate the refinery’s operations.

This strategic move allows the group to leverage the seaport for exporting products to various African countries while also distributing refined petroleum products along Nigeria’s coastline. By utilizing maritime transport, Dangote aims to alleviate congestion on the road networks surrounding the refinery.

At the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) trade fair, where the Dangote Group served as a major sponsor, attendees expressed keen interest in the company’s diverse business units, including Dangote Fertiliser, Dangote Sugar, NASCON (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Cement.

Additionally, Wali-Abdurrahman highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability through ongoing investments in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), with plans to transition its entire fleet to this cleaner energy source to lower carbon emissions.

ACCI President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, commended the Dangote Group for its significant role in Nigeria’s industrialization, emphasizing the company’s contributions to national revenue through taxes that support infrastructure and social programs.
