Driver narrowly escaped death on Monday morning when a 40-foot container crashed onto a Toyota Camry at Mile 2, Lagos, near the Apapa Ports. The incident occurred around 8 a.m., with the heavy container falling directly onto the vehicle, leaving the driver trapped inside.

Thanks to a swift and coordinated response from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the victim was quickly rescued. Emergency services worked tirelessly to extricate the driver, who was then transported to the hospital for medical care.

Security measures were taken by officers from the Kirikiri Police Division to ensure the safety of responders and maintain order at the scene. By 9:30 a.m., efforts were underway to clear the road, as LASTMA officers worked to remove the fallen container and prevent further traffic disruptions.

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, emphasized the importance of ensuring that containers are properly secured to prevent such accidents. He urged truck drivers and owners to strictly follow safety protocols to safeguard lives on the road.
