The Kwara Concerned Group has raised serious alarm regarding the neglected General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover at Tanke Tipper Garage in Ilorin, a project that has remained unfinished for nearly three years. In a recent statement, the group emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and a strong focus on public safety concerning the flyover.

During a press conference held on Thursday at Tanke, Chairman Buoye David Olusegun highlighted that the flyover, named after the distinguished Nigerian general, was initiated on November 3, 2021. The original goal was to alleviate traffic congestion and improve transportation infrastructure in the Ilorin area, especially around Tanke Tipper Garage, which serves as a key route to the University of Ilorin.

Despite these intentions, the project has faced significant setbacks, with the initial completion deadline of 12 months being extended repeatedly without satisfactory explanations. Residents have expressed frustration, proposing alternative solutions like expanding existing roads or opening new routes to ease traffic flow.

According to David Olusegun, the contract was awarded to JMK Construction Company Limited for a total of N2,272,899,200. However, concerns have emerged regarding the quality of workmanship, with reports suggesting compromised safety standards.
