Nigeria experienced a nationwide blackout on Thursday after yet another collapse of the national grid at 11:20 a.m. This power failure marks the second grid collapse in just a few days, adding to the growing frustration among citizens over the country’s unstable electricity supply.

The National Grid confirmed the issue through a brief update on Twitter, acknowledging the grid setback with a message: “BREAKING: Another Grid Setback Experienced.” This incident is the twelfth power grid collapse in the past eleven months, underscoring the persistent problems facing Nigeria’s energy sector.

While the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to release a detailed explanation for the latest failure, the company previously blamed power line trips and generator malfunctions for earlier outages, including one earlier this week.

The latest collapse follows a report received by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, just one day before the blackout. Nigerians have expressed growing frustration over the government’s handling of the power grid issues, with many calling for Adelabu’s removal as a result of the ongoing power challenges.

As the country continues to face these frequent blackouts, the situation has sparked a wave of mixed reactions on social media, with many questioning the long-term stability of the national grid.
