Actress and philanthropist Habiba Sinare, known for her past marriage to Black Stars striker Majeed Waris, has candidly discussed the tough realities of being married to a footballer. In an interview with MzGee, Habiba urged women to prepare for the challenges that come with such a relationship, revealing that it often strays far from the glamorous image many envision.

During the interview, Habiba opened up about her experiences, highlighting the emotional toll that comes with the lifestyle of a professional athlete. “Marrying a soccer player isn’t easy,” she confessed, explaining that her ex-husband’s demanding schedule often left her feeling isolated. With him frequently away for training camps, she found herself needing to seek out happiness on her own, often through travel or visits back to Ghana.

“There’s no time… you have to find ways to enjoy life, either by traveling or coming back to Ghana,” she emphasized, pointing out that such a lifestyle requires a significant degree of independence and emotional resilience.

Habiba also reflected on the reasons for their marriage’s end, pinpointing a lack of intimacy and attention as key factors. She noted that Majeed’s strong ties to his family often overshadowed their relationship. “When we were out together, he would still share everything with them… I felt we couldn’t connect intimately,” she shared. Despite his maturity, Habiba felt their relationship lacked the emotional balance and connection she desired.

Keeping her struggles private, she revealed that she didn’t initially confide in her family about her marital difficulties. “I prefer to keep things to myself… even my mum didn’t know what I was going through until we had a serious conversation,” she disclosed.

Despite her young age, Habiba carries herself with remarkable grace and maturity, often leading others to underestimate her youthfulness. “People often don’t realize how young I am because of the way I present myself,” she added, reflecting on her journey and the lessons learned along the way.
