Blogger Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, recently disclosed how he obtained a controversial phone recording of cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky. This revelation emerged on Monday during his appearance before a House of Representatives panel probing bribery claims against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

The committee, investigating allegations of corruption and bribery against the EFCC and the NCoS, presented officials from both organizations. Initially, VeryDarkMan hesitated to speak before the committee, citing the absence of Bobrisky, who had opted to send a lawyer instead of attending.

However, lawmakers challenged this stance and moved to compel the blogger to address the committee regarding the voice recording he had shared. Despite threats of legislative action and arrest, VeryDarkMan stood firm, insisting his lawyer should speak on his behalf. Ultimately, after advice from his lawyer, he agreed to address the committee.

During his testimony, VeryDarkMan verified the authenticity of the viral audio recording, explaining it was provided by an individual to whom Bobrisky owed money. He also presented portions of the recording to the committee. In a widely circulated video, the blogger alleged that Bobrisky had paid ₦15 million to have money laundering charges dismissed against him related to his naira-spraying incident in April, which resulted in a six-month prison sentence. Furthermore, he claimed Bobrisky spent millions to secure a favorable position in prison.

In response to the allegations, Bobrisky has denied any wrongdoing, while the EFCC and NCoS have initiated investigations into VeryDarkMan’s claims. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to conduct an independent inquiry into the blogger’s allegations.
