Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the management and staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) after a fire broke out at the Radio Nigeria Broadcasting House in Ikoyi on Wednesday evening. The fire caused significant damage to two buildings, including key areas such as control rooms and studios.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu called the incident “unfortunate,” highlighting the extensive loss incurred, with millions of Naira worth of property destroyed.

“The fire at Radio Nigeria’s Lagos office is deeply concerning and a significant loss for the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria,” Governor Sanwo-Olu remarked. “I received the news with a heavy heart, and our thoughts and prayers are with the management and staff, especially those working at the Lagos office.”

The governor also commended the prompt actions of emergency responders, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, and LASAMBUS officials. Their swift efforts helped contain the fire and prevented any casualties.
