The final journey of Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, the charismatic politician, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, commenced on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with a solemn service of songs held in Lagos. This marked the beginning of a series of events honoring his legacy, culminating in his burial on November 22 and an outing church service on November 24. The funeral arrangements were outlined in a program released by his family and burial committee.

Ubah’s remains have returned to Nigeria from London, where he passed away on July 27, 2024. Born in September 1971 in Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra State, Ubah’s remarkable journey was defined by resilience, ambition, and a passion for empowering others.

A Life of Service and Enterprise

As the first son in a family of seven, Ubah faced financial struggles early on, which forced him to leave Premiere Academy in Abuja to pursue trade. Despite these challenges, he later earned a law degree and attended numerous business and leadership courses both locally and internationally.

Ubah’s entrepreneurial acumen shone early, as he built a thriving export business dealing in motor tires and spare parts across West Africa and Europe. He later founded Capital Oil in 2001, establishing one of Nigeria’s largest petroleum storage and distribution networks.

His ventures extended beyond business. In 2015, he launched The Authority Newspaper, a daily publication, and Ifeanyi Ubah F.C., a football club in the Nigeria Premier League. Through these platforms, Ubah championed youth empowerment, sports development, and informed journalism.

Political Journey

Ubah’s political career began in earnest when he ran for governor of Anambra State in 2014 under the Labour Party. Although unsuccessful, he persevered and, in 2019, won the Anambra South Senatorial seat as a candidate of the Young Progressive Party. He later joined the All Progressive Congress, reflecting his adaptive and pragmatic political strategy.

Family and Legacy

Ifeanyi Ubah is survived by his wife, Uchenna Ubah, a Business Administration graduate, and their five children. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched as a mentor, advocate, and community builder.
