The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a 3-day period of sunshine and dust haze across Nigeria, from Monday to Wednesday. In its weather outlook released on Sunday, NiMet highlighted that the northern region will experience a slight dust haze on Monday, with visibility ranging from 2 to 5 kilometers throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the North Central region will remain sunny, though a hazy atmosphere will persist during the forecast period. For the southern region, NiMet anticipates sunny weather mixed with occasional clouds, with the chance of thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom states during the afternoon and evening.

On Tuesday, moderate dust haze is expected to reduce visibility in the north to less than 1,000 meters. The North Central region will continue to experience slight dust haze, while the southern states will see more sunny skies, with scattered clouds and afternoon thunderstorms in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

By Wednesday, the northern region will again face moderate dust haze, with visibility under 1,000 meters. The North Central region will see slight dust haze, and the southern region will enjoy more sunshine with some clouds, but thunderstorms are likely, particularly in Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.

NiMet has advised the public to be cautious of airborne dust particles, particularly those with respiratory conditions, and to stay updated with weather reports. The agency also warned that strong winds could precede thunderstorms in some areas, urging airline operators to check airport-specific weather updates.
