President Bola Tinubu has submitted four tax reform bills to the National Assembly for review, outlining a strategic overhaul of Nigeria’s tax framework. These bills are expected to strengthen the country’s fiscal policies and improve efficiency in tax administration.

In a letter read during separate plenary sessions by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, President Tinubu detailed the administration’s intentions behind the reforms. The proposals are part of his broader goal to align tax regulations with Nigeria’s development objectives.

The key components of the reforms include the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024, which establishes a comprehensive fiscal framework for tax regulation, and the Tax Administration Bill, designed to streamline tax management and reduce disputes.

Further, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill aims to replace the existing Federal Inland Revenue Service Act by creating the Nigeria Revenue Service. Lastly, the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill suggests setting up a tax tribunal and ombudsman to address tax-related concerns.
