Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yobe State Chapter, has urged state civil servants to disregard a false circular circulating on social media, which claims a statewide strike is imminent. The NLC’s statement, signed by state chairman Muktar Tarbutu, clarified that the call for a strike is baseless and unfounded.

The NLC emphasized that negotiations for the new minimum wage had been successfully concluded by a joint committee of government representatives and NLC officials. The agreed report has already been submitted to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his review and approval.

According to the NLC’s statement, “The joint committee between the government and NLC has finalised negotiations on the New Minimum Wage, and the report has already been forwarded to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Honourable Mai Mala Buni CON, for his consideration and approval.”

The statement urged Yobe State civil servants to dismiss the misleading circular and continue with their regular duties. It also advised the public to be cautious about fake news and to verify information from trusted sources before sharing it.

Tarbutu reiterated the NLC’s dedication to protecting the rights and welfare of Yobe State workers, stressing that the organization remains steadfast in ensuring fair treatment and safeguarding their interests.
