Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has revealed that his administration has cleared ₦12 billion in pension arrears during his two years in office, surpassing the ₦11 billion paid by the previous administration over 12 years.

Speaking in a statewide broadcast to mark his two-year anniversary, Adeleke emphasized his government’s dedication to transparency and accountability, highlighting significant achievements across various sectors.

“We are halfway through our term, and I am proud to present our stewardship,” the governor stated. “In just two years, we’ve paid ₦12 billion in pension debt, which reflects our commitment to prioritizing the welfare of retirees in Osun State.”

Achievements in Healthcare, Infrastructure, and Education
Adeleke detailed his administration’s strides in healthcare, announcing the upgrade of 200 primary health centers with solar energy, boreholes, and adequate medical supplies. Two major Imole medical outreach programs have treated over 100,000 residents, with a third edition underway. Additionally, 29,000 pensioners have been enrolled in the state’s health insurance scheme, ensuring better access to healthcare services.

Infrastructure development has also been a focal point, with the completion of 332 boreholes across all political wards and another 332 projects currently in progress. Adeleke highlighted ongoing efforts to revive farm settlements, expand cocoa and cashew farming initiatives, and mechanize agriculture with the purchase of 31 tractors.

Education and Technical Development
The governor celebrated milestones in education, including the operationalization of the University of Ilesa with take-off grants and accredited programs. At Osun State University, four abandoned projects have been completed, including a modern anatomy laboratory, while 99 secondary schools have been rehabilitated. Six technical colleges are also undergoing upgrades to improve vocational training for students.

Pledges to Complete Ongoing Projects
Adeleke reassured Osun State residents of his administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructural and social challenges. “We remain steadfast in completing all ongoing projects and initiatives to enhance the quality of life for our people,” he affirmed.
