Boat tragedy in Kogi State has left many feared dead, with 24 survivors currently receiving medical care following the capsizing of a vessel on Saturday. The accident occurred while the boat was transporting passengers from Kupa Ebe to Katcha Market, capsizing near Kpata Danbo. The tragic incident has prompted immediate rescue efforts, with state officials confirming the recovery of 24 victims.

Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, shared that rescue operations are ongoing and the death toll remains uncertain. “While many more are feared dead, 24 individuals have been rescued and are now being treated in nearby health facilities,” Fanwo said. He expressed deep condolences to the families who lost loved ones, offering the state’s support during this difficult time.
