Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has dismissed Samuel Aruwan, the pioneer Commissioner for Internal Security, as part of a significant cabinet reshuffle. The announcement, made through a statement by Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Musa, underscores the governor’s commitment to restructuring the administration for efficiency.

Samuel Aruwan was appointed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai in 2019 to head the newly established Ministry of Internal Security. Before this role, Aruwan served as El-Rufai’s Senior Special Assistant on Media from 2015 to 2019. However, his tenure faced challenges in recent months, particularly after the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in October recommended his suspension alongside three others over alleged breach of trust.

The tribunal’s charges against Aruwan, according to PR Nigeria, stemmed from allegations of false asset declaration, including the omission of certain bank accounts prior to his deployment to the ministry. His trial on November 8 involved six charges centered on these allegations.

In his place, Governor Sani appointed James Atung Kanyip as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs. The reshuffle also included several other key appointments: Ibrahim Mohammed as Commissioner for Finance, Barde Yunana Markus as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, and Farida Abubakar Ahmed as Executive Director of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC).

Additional appointments include Vitus Azuka Ewuzie as Senior Special Assistant for Legal Matters, Francis Damina for Research and Documentation, Victor Mathew Bobai for Public Affairs, Abdulmutallib Isah for Special Duties, and Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim for Economic Matters.
