The Federal Government is paving the way for many Nigerians to become homeowners through the Renewed Hope City and Estate Programme, a major initiative launched under the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. This ambitious project aims to provide secure, affordable housing to Nigerians nationwide, making the dream of homeownership a reality for more citizens.

At this year’s South-West Housing Exhibition held in Ibadan, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, revealed that the Renewed Hope City initiative has streamlined the home-buying process. By using a centralized online platform, Nigerians both at home and abroad can now easily explore housing options and make payments through various flexible methods.

Represented by Aigbokhai Elizabeth, the Federal Controller for Oyo State, Dangiwa emphasized the innovative strategies that have driven the success of this housing program. He explained how President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda has led to the creation of diverse funding models, including public-private partnerships and international collaborations, to meet the growing demand for housing.

Dangiwa further highlighted the progress of the project, stating that many homes are already in the roofing stage, with more expected to be completed soon. The online portal, www.renewedhopehomes.fmhud.gov.ng, will serve as a key tool for Nigerians to choose their preferred homes and access information on payment options.

In addition to offering affordable housing, the scheme is contributing to economic growth by generating employment. On average, each house built through the Renewed Hope program creates 25 jobs, further boosting local economies. Dangiwa revealed that over 252,800 jobs, both skilled and unskilled, have been created as a result of these ongoing housing projects.

The South-West Housing Exhibition also provided a platform for discussions on challenges in the housing sector. Renewed Hope City Managing Director of the South West Exhibition, stressed the importance of flexible homeownership opportunities for Nigerians, particularly in the South-West region, where affordable housing solutions are urgently needed.

Akinfunmilayo Williams, Oyo State’s Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, praised the initiative and affirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the project. He assured that policies would be developed to address the region’s housing deficit and promote further collaboration between the state and real estate developers.

The exhibition culminated in a raffle draw, giving participants the chance to win their very own home, adding an exciting dimension to the event.
