Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her reappointment as Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), applauding her global recognition and outstanding contributions to economic development.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Oborevwori praised the WTO for entrusting Okonjo-Iweala with a second term, following her groundbreaking first appointment in 2021. The governor described her as an exemplary ambassador of Delta State and Nigeria, hailing her track record as a two-time Finance Minister who played a key role in leading Nigeria out of foreign debt obligations during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Delta State, I heartily congratulate Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her well-deserved reappointment as WTO Director-General. This achievement underscores her competence, global respect, and vast expertise as an economist and international development expert,” the governor stated.

He further commended her reappointment, which was achieved without opposition, as a testament to her dedication and remarkable performance during her first term.

Oborevwori expressed his optimism for Okonjo-Iweala’s continued success in her second term, highlighting her ability to bring pride and honor to both Delta State and Nigeria. “As you embark on this new chapter, we remain confident in your capability to deliver outstanding results. Our prayers and support will always be with you,” he added.
