Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, officially transferred the oversight of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) to the Minister of State, Muhammad Bello Goronyo. This transition took place during a meeting with the agencies’ management and board members in Abuja, which was attended by senior officials, including Permanent Secretary Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, Ph.D.

Expressing his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Goronyo to support the Ministry’s work, particularly in the crucial areas affecting citizens’ well-being through FERMA, Umahi urged the new Minister to focus on enhancing the agencies’ performance. He emphasized the importance of increased budget allocations to improve their impact, while also urging the agencies’ leadership to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and patriotism.

In his remarks, Minister Goronyo thanked President Tinubu for his trust and commended Umahi for his leadership, describing him as a results-driven and experienced leader. Goronyo pledged to work closely with the staff, management, and board members, emphasizing an open-door policy that encourages innovative solutions to achieve the agencies’ goals.

Heads of FERMA and OSGoF, Engr. (Dr.) Chukwuemeka Agbasi and Surveyor-General Abduganiyu Adebomehin, reassured the Ministers of their commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

At his first management meeting, Minister Goronyo called for the adoption of innovative financing strategies to lessen the agencies‘ reliance on federal budget allocations. He also requested that detailed work plans and schedules be submitted to better guide the agencies’ operations moving forward.
