Edo State’s Vehicle Recovery Committee has successfully recovered 30 government-owned vehicles from officials of the previous administration, as announced by Chairman Kelly Okungbowa. This significant development was shared in a statement by Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Okungbowa praised the efforts of whistleblowers who provided crucial information, helping to retrieve several key vehicles. Among the recovered items were two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux trucks from a former high-ranking official’s residence. One of the Hilux trucks was found with campaign materials such as posters and umbrellas.

The chairman emphasized that the committee’s operation would continue, with a two-week deadline for completing its recovery mission. “We appeal to the public for more information to aid our operations. Whistleblowers have been instrumental to our success, and we are committed to rewarding anyone who provides helpful tips,” Okungbowa stated.

The committee’s efforts have already seen three vehicles recovered, including one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses. One of the buses was discovered containing bags of rice meant for palliative distribution to Edo residents. The committee reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all government assets are returned to the state.
