The Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi, has strongly refuted claims labeling him a “warmonger” following a controversial viral video. The monarch, who leads the Apomu community in Osun State’s Isokan Local Government Area, issued a statement through his media aide, Tolu Adetunji, denouncing the accusations made by a columnist in a recent opinion piece.

The columnist had criticized Oba Afolabi’s involvement in a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) empowerment event in his domain, calling the video footage “shameful” and accusing the monarch of stirring political conflict. In response, Oba Afolabi described the article as biased and based on inaccurate information. He clarified that the video in question had been doctored, aimed at tarnishing his image, and reiterated that he is a man of peace, not a warmonger.

“The opinion piece is subjective, one-sided, and not grounded in facts,” the statement emphasized, urging journalists to present a balanced view by including the monarch’s official response to the video. Oba Afolabi’s remarks come after widespread media coverage of the video, which he insists has been misinterpreted.
