President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Ahmadu Kurfi, the Maradin Katsina and district head of Kurfi, praising him as an exemplary elder statesman and a distinguished public servant. In a heartfelt statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the government and people of Katsina State and the family of the late traditional leader.

Alhaji Ahmadu Kurfi, remembered for his impactful role in Nigeria’s political history, was instrumental in the country’s transition to democratic governance, particularly through his work as the executive secretary of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) in 1979. President Tinubu highlighted Kurfi’s significant influence in shaping the nation’s political landscape, emphasizing the enduring legacy he leaves behind.

“His contributions to national development and public service will not be forgotten,” said President Tinubu, urging today’s leaders to find inspiration in Kurfi’s commitment to the country’s progress.
